It has been a pleasure serving the community of Dinuba. This is my tenth year at the Dinuba Chamber of Commerce. Time has flown by! I remember all of the ideas and goals as a newly hired CEO in 2010... some of those ideas were launched and some of those initial goals were achieved, however we are always looking forward and wanting to improve the value and service that we provide to our members and to the business community. Our Board of Directors recently attended a ABC's of a Successful Chamber workshop with Dave Kilby, W.A.C.E. and CalChamber. Those 3 C's are Catalyst for business growth, Convener of leaders and influencers, Champion for a thriving community. At our recent Board meeting in July, the Board set the following goals to be a Catalyst for change in how we deliver services to business and a Catalyst for business growth through advocacy, business retention, and attraction:
Develop, clearly define, market, and deliver the benefits of chamber membership
MARKETING / COMMUNICATIONS
Utilizing printed, digital, and personal contact, market the Chamber and Dinuba to increase awareness, volunteer base, visitors, and membership.
Increase advocacy efforts, connecting businesses with government and business leaders. Take the lead on issues, be visible and respected by both business and government.
Create a pro-business climate by connecting all stakeholders. Recruit new businesses and retain existing businesses through education and collaboration by finding solutions and opportunities for growth and job creation.
I am so grateful for my Administrative Assistant, Isabel Anquiano. Isabel worked at Bank of the West for many years, so for many she is a very familiar face and voice on the phone to our members and community. She speaks Spanish fluently and has been a real asset as we work with our Hispanic businesses and community members. She is just about to celebrate her one year anniversary with the Chamber.
The Chamber continues to work on maintaining a social media presence that is updated daily by Isabel, keeping information current and fresh. Facebook is utilized to disseminate member and chamber information in a timely way, reaching a broader audience. Check our our Facebook page and Like Us! We also brought back the newsletter. Look for it monthly, if you aren't receiving it let us know so we can make sure you are added to both email and postal mailing list. Both of these communications are available to our members for getting their own message out. Give Isabel or I a call and we will be happy to assist you.
Focus on adding value to our membership, creating marketing strategies and plans to get the Chamber recognized and known as a Champion and Convener that works hard for Dinuba, it's businesses and community, were also hot topics and goals of the Board Planning Meeting held in June.
Our new Chair, Barbara Thiesen, DUSD is coming back to us after a 2-year break. She brings the organizational and educational piece that will help forward our goals to serve our members and build a vital, strong business climate that strengthens existing businesses and develops a workforce to attract new business to Dinuba.
Reda Bennani, our GAC (Government Affair Committee) chair, Best Western Americana, recently attended a conference in Long Beach, to learn and network with other chambers, on how to build alliances and a pro-business climate working with our elected officials.
Grant Bruegman, Ed Dena's Auto Center, joined our board in December, and brings a lot of knowledge about chambers, ambassadors, and marketing to our board. He is leading the resurrection of the Ambassadors programs and looking for business and community people that want to help build Dinuba. If you are interested in being an Ambassador call the office and we will get some information out to you. We need business people who can greet, meet, encourage, and network with fellow businesses!
The Chamber has a great Board of Directors representing a broad spectrum of business, education, and civic interests. They are very committed to serving Dinuba businesses and the community. These Community Leaders come with varied backgrounds and skill sets that add to and improve the programs and services being offered by the Chamber of Commerce. All of us are working together to improve the business environment by helping to retain and grow existing businesses and working on the attraction of new businesses that will create jobs to strengthen our local economy and improve the living standard of Dinuba.
It has been my sincere privilege to work for Dinuba and serve as the CEO of the Dinuba Chamber for the past 10 years. I am looking forward to another awesome year with GREAT EXPECTATIONS! Hope you will join the Dinuba Chamber
